Graduation
A certificate in medical assisting, phlebotomy, and medical coding and billing is granted from Apollo Career Center upon successful completion of the program. After completion of Apollo’s CAAHEP accredited program, graduates are eligible to take the certification examination given by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) to achieve the CMA (AAMA) credential.**
What does this mean to you? It means that you can be employed as a medical assistant before you are certified. To date, you are not required to take the CMA (AAMA) exam in the state of Ohio to be employed. However, most institutions require that you be certified before you can be hired. Other employers require certification within 90 days or 6 months of employment. If certification is not sought and achieved, your employment can be terminated. You cannot take the CMA (AAMA) certification exam unless you graduate from an ABHES or CAAHEP accredited program.
**You must meet the requirements of the AAMA to take the CMA (AAMA) examination. Graduation from this program does not guarantee you will be eligible for the test. For more information about the requirements of the AAMA please visit their website at www.aama-ntl.org.
