The start of a new school year is exciting. All the planning and preparation completed over the summer to welcome and educate over 950 high school students is tested and the ability to accommodate the unexpected is important. NextReady isn’t just for students but a mindset that requires flexibility and adaptability.

Apollo Adult Education (OTC) has many upskilling opportunities for business and industry and for individuals looking to improve their lives through advancing skills or training for a whole new career. Adult education and high school students who have chosen to obtain a career technical education have made a large step towards Nextready.

I recently had the opportunity to talk about the transformative impact of career technical education and the role of Ohio Technical Centers (OTCs) in workforce development for a statewide OTC podcast series“Next Ready”: Preparing Students for an Unpredictable Future.

An Apollo highlight in the fall is the opportunity to be one of many MakerFest sponsors. This regional event will be held October 10 and 11 at the Allen County Fairgrounds. MakerFest is an opportunity for business and industry to promote career paths to 9th and 10th grade students from over 20 regional schools. This event also highlights the education and training that is offered regionally including high school and postsecondary opportunities. Students interact with business and industry professionals in short segments with hands-on activities. It is a great opportunity for students to see the amazing employment opportunities in the Greater Lima Region.

I hope you enjoyed the summer and thank you for your continued support of Apollo Career Center.

Sincerely,

Keith Horner, Superintendent
Apollo Career Center
